“Emily Ratajkowski Bids Farewell to Hollywood: ‘I Refuse to Be a Piece of Meat Anymore!'”

Emily Ratajkowski, a well-known model and actress, has revealed that she is leaving the world of acting behind. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Ratajkowski explained that a failed audition for the comedy film “Triangle of Sadness”

 

in 2019 was a pivotal moment in her decision. She expressed feeling objectified and reduced to her physical appearance, rather than being recognized as an artist. Ratajkowski stated, “I felt like a piece of meat who people were judging, saying, ‘Does she have anything else other than her [breasts]?'”

 

 

The model-turned-actress emphasized her weariness of conforming to the expectations of powerful men in Hollywood, which led her to terminate her working relationships with her acting agent, commercial representative, and manager in early 2020.

 

 

Ratajkowski claimed that she had lost trust in them, feeling that they did not have her best interests at heart and harbored a misogynistic attitude towards women. She decided to take control of her own career decisions and believed she could handle the responsibilities on her own.

 

 

Ratajkowski’s acting career took off in 2014 with her appearance in the film “Gone Girl,” where she played the role of Andie Fitzgerald, a student engaged in an affair with a married professor. Following her debut, she aimed to establish herself as a serious actress with longevity, starring alongside Zac Efron in “We Are Your Friends” and appearing in “I Feel Pretty” alongside Amy Schumer.

 

 

However, despite her efforts, Ratajkowski struggled to achieve significant box office success. Her most recent major role was in 2019’s “Lying and Stealing,” alongside Theo James. Unfortunately, the role she desired in “Triangle of Sadness” was eventually given to Charlbi Dean, who tragically passed away the following year.

 

 

Additionally, Ratajkowski has been embroiled in a custody dispute over her 2-year-old son, Sylvester Apollo, with her estranged husband, Sebastian Bear-McClard. Their marriage ended after four years, and recently, multiple women came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against Bear-McClard, a film producer.

 

 

 

Although Ratajkowski has not publicly addressed these allegations, she hinted in the interview that the dissolution of her relationship may have influenced her decision to step away from acting. She expressed a lack of interest in men’s perspectives and voiced her disillusionment with the dark and dysfunctional nature of Hollywood.
