Emma Raducanu achieved the impossible after she won the 2021 U.S. Open starting from the qualifiers and without dropping a single set in 10 matches. That was an incredible achievement that nobody has been able to achieve in tennis history. However, the British sensation surprised her fans again soon after announcing the split with her coach, Andrew Richardson. It is a common notion, or probably common sense, not to change your surroundings when you win something important. Or at least, if you want to change something, don’t go big. This is also the opinion of tennis legend Martina Hingis.
Martina commented: “You know, if you have the right surroundings, I think that’s also really important. I mean, I never met her. It was incredible that she was able to win the US Open, and with all of the changes after that, maybe, who knows?
I don’t think it was a great choice to make. I mean, when you win with someone, you usually continue the path, but I can’t judge what happened. But it will be nice to see her succeed again. I mean, she’s got the shots; she’s the whole package. But you still need the results; it’s not like one day you win the US Open and that’s the rest of your life.”
Since the 2021 US Open, Raducanu has had five different coaches, and she is without a championship. Emma is out of competition after struggling with a lot of injuries that made her have three surgeries. It is still not clear if she will be able to compete in the upcoming U.S. Open.
Ranked world no.132, Raducanu played her last match on the 18th of April when she capitulated to world no.17 Jelena Ostapenko 6-2 6-1 in the 1st round in Stuttgart (draw).
This season Raducanu has managed to achieve a compiled 5-5 match record.
