After Multiple Heartbreaks, Paige Spiranac Finally Enjoys a Well Deserved Gift, Just Days Before the Open Championship

Many hearts get broken during the final round of the game of golf when an unexpected player wins the tournament. After all, that is what the game of golf is all about—uncertainties! However, at the end of the Genesis Scottish Open yesterday, there was one heart that was not broken but instead full of joy, and it was that of none other than Paige Spiranac, who was instead presented with a pleasant surprise!

The surprise comes the social icon’s way just days before the final major is about to commence. And the timing could not be any better than this. Dive in with us to find out what happened during round 4 that helped Spiranac’s broken heart heal and then flutter!

Paige Spiranac sees her heartbreak mend with the Genesis Scottish Open

Before the tournament in Scotland commenced, the former golf pro had her fair share of picks for winners! Her top four picks were: Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton, Rickie Fowler, and Rory McIlroy. However, adding McIlroy to her list was certainly not easy for the 33-year-old. The reason was that the Irish Golfer had broken her heart too many times with his performances and finishes this year, whenever she had picked him to finish at the top!

Fortunately, this time the 4-time major winner came through for Spiranac, and her pick was spot on when he grabbed the win on Sunday. However, although she had chosen him as one of her hot picks for the Genesis Scottish Open, she also made it clear that she would never pick him for the major tournaments because of the heartbreak she had to endure during all the previous tournaments.

The Irishman had missed two consecutive cuts at the Players Championship and Masters. His game in the following weeks was not so pleasant either at Quail Hollow. However, at Oak Hill, it seemed like the golfer had found his rhythm again. He carded a T7 finish on the leaderboard during the PGA Championship and then finished as the US Open runner-up, shocking everyone. Cashing in on his hot streak, McIlroy also performed extremely well in Scotland last week and picked up his first win in 2023. It certainly was a victory that was long overdue!

With the recent prestigious win boosting his skills and confidence, the question arises: will the former world number 1 golfer be able to secure his career’s fifth major win at the forthcoming Open Championship?

What are the chances of Rory McIlroy emerging victorious at the Open Championship?
The Scottish Open marked the last event before the season’s final major kicks off at Royal Liverpool Golf Club. Having emerged victorious there, the Northern Irishman will undoubtedly head to the field of the Open Championship with an extra boost of confidence.

The golfer is currently having a good run too. He placed in the top 10 at his last six appearances on the course, including the previous two majors. Moreover, hailing from the UK, McIlroy is more familiar with the courses and how to handle the erratic weather that may affect the final major in Liverpool.

The golfer has, to date, made 13 appearances in the Open Championship. These include six top-10 finishes, the most recent being T3 in 2022. McIlroy also lifted the Claret Jug in 2014 at the same course. Hence, given his familiarity with the course as well as his recent performances, it is certainly likely that he may take home another major win this week!
