Lydia Ko, a two-time Olympic medallist and world number three women’s golfer, will participate in the Maybank Championship 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) from October 26-29. The tournament will feature other top golfers such as world number four Ruoning Yin, world number five Lilia Vu, and US Open champion Allisen Corpuz. Ko, 26, is close to being inducted into the LPGA Hall of Fame and has an impressive record with 19 LPGA tour victories. Vu, 25, has recently achieved success with two wins in 2023, while Yin, only 20 years old, has won the 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. The championship will host 64 LPGA Tour golfers, including these four players, competing for the Tiger trophy and a prize pool of USD 3 million.

The tournament marks the return of the Maybank Championship after a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The event will also showcase the talent of Malaysian and Asean players, with ten spots reserved for them. Malaysian golfer Kelly Tan, a two-time Olympian and instrumental in promoting women’s golf in the country, will lead the local challenge in the tournament. As the top Malaysian women’s golfer, Tan has achieved notable finishes in previous events. Maybank Group President and CEO Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli emphasized the bank’s commitment to inclusivity and supporting excellence in sports through the tournament.

Ticketing options for the Maybank Championship have been announced, including a RM38 Day Pass for entry on Thursday and Friday, a RM68 Weekend Pass for entry on Saturday and Sunday, or a RM88 Season Pass for entry throughout all four days. The championship aims to celebrate its prestige as more than just a golfing event, serving as a platform for promoting values and inspiring the next generation of golfers.
