“Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney’s Shocking Reaction to Wrexham’s Promotion Costs – Big Money Friendlies with Chelsea & Man United!”

Footage caught Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s reaction to cost of potential Wrexham promotion failure – now they play lucrative Chelsea and Man United friendlies

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney once feared failure – now Wrexham are rubbing shoulders with Chelsea and Manchester United. The Hollywood duo got themselves into football ownership in 2021 and footage from their documentary showed just how much they had to lose.

Wrexham capped off a wonderful 2022/23 season in the National League by securing the title with a 3-1 victory over Boreham Wood, securing a record 111 points.

As well as being crowned champions, it was enough to end their 15-year exile from the English Football League having been playing in the fifth tier of the league system.

But it could have ended very differently.
During filming their Disney Plus documentary, Welcome to Wrexham, Reynolds and McElhenney were seen discussing their budget at the start of the 2021/22 season – when their ownership began.

Always Sunny In Philadelphia star McElhenney gave a typically no-nonsense response to what was at stake, saying “If we don’t get promoted the year after that, we’ll lose £1million.”

Deadpool star Reynolds replied without skipping a beat, saying: “Okay, that’s scary as f***”.

The Welsh outfit will now embark on a new adventure in League Two, hoping to preserve or better their status at the end of the campaign.

And to get them ready for the new campaign, Wrexham will lockhorns with Chelsea and Manchester United stateside.
Up first is Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues, at the Kenan Memorial Stadium, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on July 19, following by a friendly against LA Galaxy.

They then go toe-to-toe with Erik ten Hag’s Man United, on July 25 at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.

And to conclude their US stint they will take on Philadelphia Union on July 29.
