Holger Rune makes one thing clear about his current ranking
Rune is currently enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 6 in the world.

Holger Rune says he is “happy” with his world No 6 ranking but highlighted that he will be “satisfied” only when he reaches the top-ranking. Rune, 20, is currently enjoying a career-high ranking of No 6 in the world. After winning his first Masters title in 2022 November, Rune also broke into the top-10 for the first time in his career.“I just really told myself, ‘Okay, I don’t want to be No 30 in the world and just stay here.
I feel like I can be better and do better things, and I don’t want to waste my potential. So I worked really hard,” Rune told the ATP website. Before the start of the 2023 season, Rune said he was aiming to become a Grand Slam champion and also reach the world No 1 ranking in 2023.
“I’m happy to be No 6, but I’m not satisfied. And I don’t want to end at No 6. I want to be No 1, it’s no secret. Right now I’m also trying to work 10 times harder than I did in the beginning of the year. So hopefully, everything will come together,” Rune said.
Rune hopes to have a big summer
This week, Rune is kicking off his summer on hard courts at the Toronto Masters. After Toronto, Rune will also play at the Cincinnati Masters and US Open. For this year’s US Open series, Rune is hoping to do well and make some big results. “The whole leadup to the US Open is really exciting. And these tournaments can really help you to build your game to be the best at the Open.
[The] better I can do at this tournament, that’s [the] better chance I have to fulfill my dream there,” Rune said. The US Open will be Rune’s last chance to become a Grand Slam champion in 2023.
